Getting there
The European Union’s ‘Entry/Exit System
The European Union’s ‘Entry/Exit System’ (EES) has been pushed back to the 11th of November, 2024 and is a significant change in the way the EU manages its external borders. But expect it to be pushed back again!
This system will introduce increased passport controls and biometric screening at EU borders. To ensure a smooth entry into the EU, we recommend allowing plenty of time for these new procedures when planning your trip. The EES aims to enhance security and streamline border control, which may result in longer wait times at entry points. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Flights
Our advice is to book early, and there are good savings to be made if you book your flights and hotel at the same time, either on the airline’s website or on one of the dedicated travel websites like Expedia.
Hotels
There is a range of hotels in Frankfurt and vicinity ranging from sixty euros per night to two thousand euros per night. It is simple. The closer you are to the venue and the later you leave it to book, the more expensive it will be. Today (21st October), booking a room at the Maritim Hotel for 4 nights for €460 per night is possible. But good business hotels within a 10 – 15 minute walk from the city entrance charge around 215 euros per night (including breakfast). If you are happy to travel 30+ kilometres each way, you can get a room for €50 per night.
On the other hand, you could wait until the show starts and see if you can get a last-minute bargain!
Travelling from the UK?
British citizens do not require a visa for the Schengen Member States if their stay does not exceed 90 days within any 180 days. But you will need to go through the EES at the relevant border entry points- More information>>>
