Getting there
The European Union’s ‘Entry/Exit System
The European Union’s ‘Entry/Exit System’ (EES) comes into effect on the 6th October 2024, and is a significant change in the way the EU manages its external borders.
This system will introduce increased passport controls and biometric screening at EU borders. To ensure a smooth entry into the EU, we recommend that you allow plenty of time for these new procedures when planning your trip. The EES aims to enhance security and streamline border control, but it may result in longer wait times at entry points. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Flights
Our advice is to book early, and there are good savings to be made if you book your flights and hotel at the same time, either on the airline’s website or on one of the dedicated travel websites like Expedia.
Hotels
There is a range of hotels in Frankfurt and vicinity ranging from sixty euros per night right up to two thousand euros per night. It is simple, really. The closer you are to the venue and the later you leave it to book, the more expensive it will be. Today (24th August) it is possible to get a room at the Intercontinental Hotel for 4 nights for €488. But really there are good business hotels within 10 – 15 minutes walk from the City entrance for around 140 euros per night (including breakfast).
On the other hand, you could wait until the show starts and see if you can get a last-minute bargain!
Travelling from the UK?
British citizens do not require a visa for the Schengen Member States if the duration of their stay does not exceed 90 days within any 180-day period. But you will need to go through the EES at the relevant border entry points- More information>>>
