Ricoh’s print success drives global growth

May 7, 2024

Ricoh’s printing division powers sales and profits, ensuring sustained growth across commercial, office, and industrial sectors.

Ricoh’s latest financial report reflects solid performance and growth, driven significantly by its printing division. For the nine months ending December 31, 2023, the company recorded total sales of ¥1,697.7 billion ($11.37 billion/ €10.36 billion), which marks an 11.1% increase over the previous period.

Despite a slight decline in operating profit, pre-tax profits remained consistent. As a result, profits attributable to the parent company rose by over 10%, and comprehensive income increased significantly by nearly 44%.

Ricoh’s total assets reached ¥2.2 trillion ($14.74 billion/ €13.42 billion), and equity increased to over ¥1 trillion. Dividends per share are projected to rise to 36 yen ($0.24/ €0.22) for the fiscal year ending March 2024.

In the office printing sector, Ricoh maintained steady demand for its multifunction printers and associated services, bolstered by improvements in security and document management. Meanwhile, the strategic focus on digital and commercial printing technology helped capture new customers, driven by growing demand for upgraded printing capabilities and workflow automation.

Ricoh’s expansion into industrial sectors, particularly textile and direct-to-garment printing, aligns with emerging market trends and provides promising results as digital production gains traction.

In other areas, Ricoh is leveraging its extensive expertise to offer imaging solutions across various industries. This is particularly notable in medical devices, where the company has a focus on imaging technology for diagnostic equipment, contributing to more accurate healthcare outcomes.

AI and Software Solutions are another strategic focus, integrating artificial intelligence into document management and security software to help customers manage large data volumes securely and automatically, providing significant value to businesses handling sensitive information.
