June is the Ricoh Groups Global SDGs action month

June 1, 2023

The month-long celebration of achievements and renewed dedication to the SDGs will be held from June 1 to June 30, 2023. This year’s event theme is “Accelerate SDGs Action-business alignment.”

In a statement released recently, Akira Oyama, President and CEO of Ricoh, expressed the company’s unwavering commitment to resolving social issues and its dedication to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Oyama highlighted the crucial role of these principles in enhancing corporate value sustainably.

The month-long celebration of achievements and renewed dedication to the SDGs, known as the Global SDGs Action Month, will be held from June 1 to June 30, 2023. This year’s event theme is “Accelerate SDGs Action-business alignment.”

Ricoh aims to deepen employees’ understanding of how the company’s business is connected to the SDGs and its Fulfilment through Work vision. To achieve this, videos showcasing how Ricoh’s products, services, and business activities contribute to solving social issues will be available for employees to recognize the impact of their work.

The Global SDGs Action Month will also see region-specific activities in Japan, Europe, North America, and the Asia Pacific. In Japan, interactive seminars with senior management will accelerate the alignment between business and the SDGs. Europe will focus on local community action aligned with the theme of “Inclusion in the Workplace.” Employees across the region will share their community impact activities through multimedia submissions.

North America will showcase Ricoh’s SDG and ESG initiatives, emphasizing thought leadership, customer successes, and the company’s sustainable innovation track record. The region will also celebrate World Environment Day, Pride Month, Juneteenth, and National Indigenous History Month, highlighting the SDGs in action.

In the Asia Pacific, Ricoh New Zealand will optimize its vehicle fleet and reduce fuel usage by implementing a “Remote First” service model and transitioning to hybrid vehicles. Additionally, the company will collaborate with the Kindness Collective charity organization to donate winter pyjamas to children in need.

In Thailand, volunteers from Ricoh will assist with road repairs in Bangkok’s Prawet district and engage in coastal clean up efforts in Rayong province. Moreover, Ricoh Philippines warehouse staff will initiate a vertical vegetable gardening project using recycled waste toner bottles.
