Canon confirms conclusion of dispute with General Plastic and Katun

Canon announced the conclusion of toner supply container-related patent infringement disputes in U.S. International Trade Commission and in U.S. District Court.
As previously reported, Canon, General Plastic Industrial Co., Ltd. and Katun Corporation have agreed to the resolution of patent infringement disputes against General Plastic Industrial Co., Ltd. and Katun Corporation in the U.S. International Trade Commission and in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, concerning certain toner supply containers sold for use in various models of Canon office machines.
In March 2021, Canon filed complaints for patent infringement in the U.S. International Trade Commission and various U.S. district courts against 26 manufacturers, distributors, and sellers of toner supply containers, including General Plastic and Katun.
To resolve the disputes, General Plastic and Katun stipulated to a Consent Order from the International Trade Commission, and a Consent Judgment and Permanent Injunction from the District of Minnesota, as to Canon’s U.S. Patent Nos. 10,209,667, 10,289,060, 10,289,061, 10,295,957, 10,488,814, 10,496,032, 10,496,033, 10,514,654, 10,520,881, and 10,520,882, which prohibit General Plastic and Katun from making, using, selling and offering for sale in the U.S., and from importing into the U.S., the toner supply containers that Canon accused of infringement.
