A new printer released by New York-based company Hammacher Schlemmer enables smartphone users to print photos directly from their phone, without the need for printer cartridges, reports Ubergizmo.
The Wireless Smartphone Photo Printer is compatible with both iOS and Andriod devices, with photos being sent via a home or office Wi-Fi network or by connecting the printer directly to an iOS device’s dock.
Rather than using ink cartridges, the printer uses the company’s patented photo paper that is embedded with yellow, magenta and cyan dye crystals and is claimed to be scratch and water-resistant. The printer is able to produce 4”x6” photo prints at a resolution of 300dpi.
The printer is available to order from Hammacher and Schlemmer’s website at a cost of $219.95 (€169.64), with replacement paper cartridges costing $24.95 (€19.24) for 10 sheets.
