Three new lithium-ion powered forklifts

May 17, 2023

Toyota has recently introduced 3 new lithium-ion powered forklifts.

Toyota Material Handling Europe has unveiled three new stand-in warehouse trucks for load handling and stacking in high-intensity operations. The robust models, equipped with lithium-ion technology, offer improved productivity, energy efficiency, and safety features.

The three new models are the Toyota BT Levio LSI200, a 2-ton stand-in powered pallet truck; the BT Staxio SSI200D, a 2-ton stand-in double stacker truck; and the BT Staxio SSI160LN, a 1.6-ton narrow stand-in stacker truck with elevating support arms. These models follow Toyota’s Radical Energy Design (RED) approach, prioritising lithium-ion batteries and modular design.

The stand-in trucks feature lithium-ion battery modules integrated within the chassis frame, resulting in low energy consumption and reduced CO2 emissions. They offer enhanced manoeuvrability, increased uptime, and improved efficiency during shifts. The compact dimensions and short turning radius enable easy navigation in narrow spaces and aisles. The driver compartment provides high visibility of the forks and handled goods, maximising efficiency.

The BT Staxio SSI200D, with its double load handling capacity of up to 2,000 kg, offers time savings and enhanced efficiency. The BT Staxio SSI160LN allows block stacking and stacking at heights up to 5.4 meters, making it suitable for narrow aisles. The driver is protected by an overhead guard, ensuring safety without compromising visibility.

The new trucks are built around energy-efficient lithium-ion batteries, reducing energy consumption. They come with a choice of three li-ion Intelligent Energy Packs, offering high energy levels and low energy consumption. Toyota’s range of li-ion chargers further reduces costs and guarantees high uptime in high-intensity applications. Quick and safe opportunity charging enables continuous operation over multiple shifts.

Safety is a key focus of the new models. The enclosed driver compartment protects standing or semi-seated operators. The compact chassis and excellent visibility contribute to safe operations. Automatic speed reduction during turning, operator presence sensing, and a blue LED warning light further enhance safety. The trucks come equipped with I_Site, Toyota’s fleet management system and the stacker model features an overhead guard for additional safety.

The driver compartment is designed with ergonomics in mind to enhance comfort and productivity. All controls are easily accessible, and features such as an adjustable right-hand control unit, an ergonomic joystick, and a steering wheel ensure easy manoeuvring. The trucks also include a colour touchscreen display and an adjustable sit/stand chair for optimum driver productivity.

The new stand-in trucks offer various options for different material handling operations, including mast configurations, fork lengths, and widths. They are suitable for many customers in warehouses, distribution centres, and industries such as food and automotive, including cold store applications.
