The MPS case in three analogies

November 30, 2017

A new blog post has offered a trilogy of scenarios to make people realise the importance of MPS.

Cartridge World have published a post aimed at helping people understand the popularity of Managed Print Services. The article uses three different analogies to explain MPS’ enduring appeal.

The first analogy compares working without MPS to providing employees with smart phones, but not monitoring long distance usage, saying that, unchecked, “people probably wouldn’t think twice about calling a relative in a distant location and talking for as long as they like.” Cartridge World argues that unmanaged printing is similar, and runs the risk of companies printing, and paying, too much.

Analogy number two equates unmanaged print services to leaving a window open on a hot day, whilst the air conditioning is on. The retailer suggests that were someone to do that in your house, “you’d probably say something about the waste and expense”, and draws a parallel to office printing: “If left unmanaged, employees are probably wasting toner, paper, and money.”

The retailer’s final analogy refers to businesses with on-premises fuel pumps to refuel company vehicles. It presents the scenario where a company was unable either to monitor how much fuel each employee was pumping, or to guarantee it was being pumped into a company vehicle. Cartridge World links this to MPS, and state that “if left unmanaged, there is no way to reinforce the behaviours that you want.”

Cartridge World finishes by saying that if these scenarios are sounding familiar, it may well be time to invest in MPS for your company.
