Ink World Magazine reported on the acquisition, which saw Sun Chemical and DIC acquire the “leading manufacturer of conductive inks, pastes and powders for the printed electronic market”. The deal of the UK company is said to allow Sun Chemical to “expand its leading global position in the printed electronics marketplace”, and “by combining Gwent’s complementary portfolio of products with Sun Chemical, customers will benefit from further innovative solutions for advanced printed electronics applications”.
In turn, Gwent’s European-based production sites “will also enhance Sun Chemical’s global conductive ink, paste and powder manufacturing capabilities” while also “allowing further penetration into developing markets”. Earlier this month, Sun Chemical acquired Flint Group’s European gravure business while Flint Group acquired Printec.
Mehran Yazdani, President of Sun Chemical Advanced Materials, commented: “The addition of Gwent’s diverse advanced electronic materials and tailor-made technologies will further expand Sun Chemical and DIC’s solutions portfolio for printed electronics globally.
