Static Control and ECi announce chip partnership

Static Control and ECi announce chip partnership

November 11, 2015

apexchipsThe largest manufacturer of aftermarket imaging systems and components worked with the software provider to provide Static Control’s chip technology for tracking aftermarket extended-yield toner cartridges.

ECi’s FMAudit MPS programme, alongside Static Control, entered into an “exclusive partnership to provide the offering to customers”, which uses Static Control’s patented extended-yield chip technology and FMAudit’s Central v4.0, which itself consists of “patent-pending tracking technology”.

The offering is said to be the “first ever extended-yield tracking in non-OEM cartridges”, and Static Control believes it “changes how MPS dealers profit in supplies management”. Without the “unique solution”, the company adds, printers “cannot distinguish between OEM or aftermarket extended-yield toner cartridges”, and users are “notified prematurely to replace the cartridge”, meaning a loss of “upwards of 50 percent of the remaining toner”.

The two companies noted that the technology “was designed to mitigate false alerting for non-OEM extended-yield toner cartridges and allow dealers the opportunity to realise the full return on investment of these cartridges”. Dealers can “end up paying more and don’t have the data to know why”, and the new technology features “proprietary chips” developed by Static Control “specific to this objective”, which are “exclusively compatible with FMAudit software”.

In turn, FMAudit has “developed an algorithm” that helps “identify the true toner depletion of the extended-yield toner and usage” in the cartridges, which results in “accurate supply notifications and a lower-than-OEM per-page supply cost”.

Josh Brandle, MPS Business Manager at Static Control, commented: “As the imaging industry’s leader in chip technology, it’s great to work with another industry leader like FMAudit to bring this solution to market. Developing this solution like an OEM provides dealers greater results to the bottom line, while increasing data analytics.”

Kevin Tetu, President of FMAudit, said: “Finding a solution to this fundamental problem was very important to us. The opportunity to work with Static Control to deliver on the promise of remanufactured extended yield cartridges lowering supply costs is very exciting for us.”
