Sharp releases six new cloud monochrome MFPs
February 11, 2014
The OEM’s new machines are energy-efficient and are aimed to “shake up the printing landscape”.
IT Pro Portal reported on the release of the six new printers from Sharp, all of which are monochrome MFPs featuring cloud capabilities. The machines include the MX-M565N, MX-M465N, MX-M365N, MX-M564N, MX-M464N and MX-M364N, with the first three machines featuring wireless connectivity and cloud print compatibility, whilst the other three are “ready for the cloud” with optional wireless connectivity and an upgrade available.
The environmentally-friendly aspect of the printers comes down to the “new toner formulation” utilised by Sharp, which reduces the “amount of energy used when printing and copying documents”. The Mycrostoner-CAP melts at a “lower temperature, as well as having “one of the lowest” typical electricity consumption (TEC) ratings.
The M565N, M465N and M365N, as the cloud-ready machines, feature the ability to scan documents and store them “directly in the cloud”, as well as use Sharp’s Cloud Portal Office to “share documents with colleagues. The three printers also have a 10.1 inch LCD panel, print resolution of 1,200 x 1,200 dpi, a 150-sheet duplexing function and print speeds of 56, 46 and 36ppm respectively.
The M564N, M464N and M364N in turn feature a seven-inch colour LCD panel, a print resolution of 600 x 600 dpi, and print speeds of 56, 46 and 36ppm respectively. All six devices are constructed out of “biomass plastic”, with sleep modes that “learn usage patterns”, allowing the printers to go to sleep “at the right time” as well as “predict when inactivity will happen”.
Rachel Dean, Sharp Europe’s European Product Planning Manager, stated: “These six new cloud capable devices transform our black and white MFP line-up, offering fast, energy efficient and secure options for every medium to large business. With cloud capabilities, our MFPs are ready to meet the changing demands on how information is used and accessed.”
