Second plant in Jiangsu Province to expand production of MFPs.
Printer manufacturer Sharp has announced that operations at a recently constructed second plant at Sharp Office Equipments (Changshu) Co., Ltd. (SOCC) are set to begin. The site will initially expand production capacity for digital colour MFPs in anticipation of increasing demand for colour documents.
The plant, in Jiangsu Province, China, is positioned at one of four Sharp bases around the world. Of the four, SOCC acts as a supply base for the entire global market.
The plant will begin production operations in April 2012, and will eventually move into colour toner cartridge production.
Sharp speculate that full colour document output is expected to increase in tandem with economic growth in China, as well as in the European and North American markets, and believes the sale of full-colour devices will increase in conjunction.
The OEM states: “By increasing production capacity for digital full-colour MFPs, Sharp will be working to expand its document systems business in the global marketplace.”
