Ubergizmo reported that the Xpress line of printers will feature Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, whereby devices in close proximity to one another can send information or data between each other at high speeds by “tapping” one another.
With many smartphones containing this technology, the OEM hopes to allow users “to print high-quality photos and documents directly from their smartphones with ease”. The colour laser and multifunctional devices include the Xpress C410W colour laser printer, the C460W colour laser MFP, and the C460W colour laser MFP with added fax functionality.
The three devices have been built “with the home and small office user in mind”, with the incorporation of NFC technology allowing users to “print content directly from their smartphones” by “tapping their NFC-enabled device with the printer”. The OEM added in turn that all three models will feature print speeds of up to 18ppm in monochrome and four pages per minute in colour.
