September 5, 2012

Newly promoted executive leaves job after just five months, without explanation.

Lifestyle technology website Smarthouse reports on Tony Ignatavicius’ decision to leave his role as Head of Samsung Australia’s IT Division, which he was promoted to in April of this year.

Ignatavicius, whose previous role was as Head of Commercial Sales at Synnex Australia where he also managed operations and national strategy, has not given a reason for his sudden departure from Samsung, simply stating: “I have quit Samsung, I cannot give a reason, I cannot say whether I have taken another job.”

His role as Head of Samsung Australia’s IT Division saw him responsible for both B2B and B2C channels, with products including printers and large format displays”.

Speaking on Ignatavicius’ promotion, Samsung Australia’s Vice President of Telecommunications and IT Tyler McGee commented at the time: “Tony joins Samsung at a pivotal stage in the growth of our IT business, with an exciting range of innovative Samsung IT products launching in the Australian market throughout 2012 […] his extensive experience and proven track record in the commercial and consumer IT market, made him the perfect fit to strengthen Samsung’s IT business.”

Ignatavicius’ predecessor, Emmanuele Silanesu also quit the role shortly after being promoted to the post, citing “family reasons”.

Samsung Australia has made no comment on Ignatavicius’ departure.
