Ricoh states that the next-generation platform “alters the very nature” of MFP devices and enhances business performance using a number of new capabilities designed to improve workflow, sustainability, security, accessibility and to reduce cost of ownership.
Mike Dane, Vice President of Marketing for Ricoh Americas Corporation commented “We’ve created a new generation of intelligent MFPs with a workstation-class computing platform inside and an interface that focuses that power on each individual’s most important work”.
The Ricoh Aficio MP 4002/MP 5002 Series, Aficio MP C3002/MP C3502 colour series and Aficio MP C4502/MP C5502 colour series MFPs include a customisable user interface with the option to display different shortcuts for each department or workgroup using the device as well as a built in web browser enabling users to print directly from the web and to access cloud services. Mobile printing is also an option with the devices.
New security features include unauthorized copy control; mandatory hold, which requires users to authenticate at the device when printing; a stronger address book/job encryption and data overwrite system that lets administrators destroy all stored data when an MFP changes hands; and time-of-day controls to enforce safe printing patterns such as hold at night, forward during lunch etc.
The printers also encourage environmentally friendly printing by reporting paper volume reductions and eco-friendly behaviours such as duplex printing; rewarding users with green-leaf icons for making eco-friendly choices over time.
Dane added: “These are products that we can demonstrate, sell and build real solutions on today, not some time in the future. We have set a new high-water mark for just how intelligent an MFP can be and the value it can bring to information workflow,” said Dane.
