Ricoh expands finishing capabilities

June 17, 2022

Ricoh’s production print customers are set to benefit from an even greater range of finishing capabilities, following the company’s asset purchase of Quadient’s graphics business in the Nordics (Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway).

Quadient is a global company specialising in software to optimise communications across mail, email, online and parcels. The asset purchase is for Quadient’s Nordic graphics business only, such as Print Finishing Solutions including booklet makers, cutters, laminators and binders, Large-Format Solutions, Supplies and Consumables and Support Services. The acquisition will enhance Ricoh’s production print finishing capabilities and bring significant growth for its distribution of Wide Format Inkjet Equipment across the region.

The agreement will see Ricoh welcome Quadient’s Nordic graphics workforce to the business, complementing existing expertise and capabilities. The asset purchase also includes Quadient’s graphics contracts, inventory, service agreements, and distribution agreements in the Nordic region.

Eef de Ridder, Vice President, Graphic Communications Group, Ricoh Europe, said: “This is an exciting acquisition for Ricoh. We are seeing an increased demand for high quality, reliable finishing capabilities as customers realise the many applications of wide format and inkjet/toner printing on a commercial scale. At the same time, many customers are also looking for end to end integrated solutions. With decades of experience in this area, Ricoh is perfectly placed to support print innovators who are more ambitious than ever to pursue new applications and revenue streams.”

Geoffrey Godet, Chief Executive Officer, Quadient, commented: “Through the sale of our graphics activity in the Nordics, we continue to make progress towards the completion of our transformation into a streamlined business, cantered around our core activities. As in our previous divestments, we are committed to conducting our activities in a responsible manner, and I am pleased that we found in Ricoh the best possible home to support our customers and talented graphics teams in the next phase of their journey.”

Earlier this year, Ricoh announced a pan-European collaboration with Quadient to support print service providers and enterprises in providing marketing services for large scale campaigns.
