The trade show company has broken its own records for exhibitor and visitor numbers, and foresees an even stronger future.
Messe Frankfurt has set a new record this year, with 95,000 exhibitors and 4.3 million visitors contributing to a vastly successful year for the company. Despite a “cyclically weak event year”, the company is strengthening, and growing too, with investment in events and products, digitisation, and optimisation of the design and capacity utilisations of its exhibition grounds.
“We […] make a point of investing counter-cyclically when we deem this to be the right strategic approach,” said Messe Frankfurt’s President and CEO Wolfgang Marzin. “Messe Frankfurt invests continually in its exhibition grounds and infrastructure, as well as, to a great extent, in expanding its IT systems and digital offerings around the world,” added Uwe Behm, a member of the company’s Executive Board.
Further afield, the company is also expanding, continuing its advances into Russia. Despite a sometimes uncertain atmosphere in the country, Messe Frankfurt has become one of the main organisers there. Likewise, the company’s Argentine subsidiary is becoming “one of the leading trade fair companies in South America”, organising the recent WTO Congress for 5,000 participants; it has also recently been awarded the contract as event partner for 2018’s G20 summit in Argentina, to be attended by the heads of state and government of the world’s twenty largest economies.
Despite this, Messe Frankfurt retains its strong roots locally. “Frankfurt has always been the centre of our Group, and will remain so,” said Marzin.
The company is looking forward to the coming financial year “with confidence and optimism.” One of the first events taking place in January will be the Paperworld 2018 show, including the Remanexpo product group, with over 120 exhibitors confirmed and tickets for visitors selling fast.
