January 10, 2013 The remanufacturer has been joined by Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County. Riverdell Patch reports that the Habit for Humanity group, based in Bergen County in New Jersey, has joined Planet Green’s Recycle Team to help reduce waste and environmental damage by collecting used small electronics for recycling. Among the items that Planet Green collects are used mobile phones, tablet computers, satellite navigation systems, MP3 players, digital cameras and printer cartridges, and Habitat Bergen is encouraging the community in its area to partner with the remanufacturer, including calls to Samsung and United Water. Habitat Bergen receives funds from each item shipped back to Planet Green, which it then uses to support its housing projects across New Jersey and beyond. Jacey Raimondo, Habitat Bergen’s Executive Director, stated: “Our priority is to provide affordable housing to low-income families within Bergen County. If we can do something good for the environment at the same time, it is a win-win for us.” A three-step programme is encouraged by the remanufacturer, consisting of gathering at least 20 items in a “sturdy box” and printing a pre-paid shipping label from Planet Green, before handing in the box to be shipped to Planet Green by UPS.
