New Fuji Xerox printers to integrate cloud storage
April 22, 2015
The Smart Series can be linked with advanced cloud storage, as well as authentication, cost recovery and automation software from Western Digital (WD), YSoft, Equitrac and Objectiflune.
Fuji Xerox said that the new devices will “enable partners to leverage the rising demand from small to medium businesses for sophisticated and affordable print solutions with a significantly smaller footprint”, ChannelLife NZ reported [http://channellife.co.nz/story/fuji-xerox-pushes-services-stream-new-printers/].
Anthony Toope, Fuji Xerox Printers Head of Channel Operations and Marketing, said the Smart Series range supports the shift among resellers to solution selling. He said that channel partners are struggling with price erosion and pressure is put on their margin and revenues by ever cheaper printer prices.
Toope commented: “For the end customer, printers have never been more affordable and they’re getting a higher feature product. But that’s putting a lot more pressure on resellers.”
The new products are aimed at the SMB market, which the executive said is often overlooked by big vendors focusing on tier one corporate and the government sector. The OEM also announced it has signed a partnership deal with Western Digital to facilitate cloud solutions. It will provide resellers with “solid hardware-based cloud offerings with pre-configured ready-to-go NAS systems at a one off cost”.
The Smart Series signals a cross-over for A4 products that “have never offered the functionality [they] had in A3 in the past but we do with the product we are launching”. The printers offer a “complete suite” of product solutions to partners, as cost recovery solutions companies such as YSoft and PaperCut can partner in the operation. Fuji Xerox partners can use these complete product solutions to create new revenue streams, extend existing accounts and gain entrance to enter new segments, taking advantage of the high functionality the printers offer.
Toope added: “You can expand your footprint with an end customer and broaden your sales revenue. You can create new sales leads, increase the sales price, gain ongoing services and annuity and improve close rate.”
Recent IDC research found that 66 percent of remanufacturers use public cloud software, with 68 percent using private cloud. Fuji Xerox signed a patent partnership with Microsoft in March 2015, with the deal covering digital imaging, document management and mobile consumer products.
