The software allows MFPs to overcome the hurdles of system downtime.
Lexmark International Inc. have announced the release of a new healthcare solution, Lexmark Downtime Assistant for Healthcare. The solution leverages Lexmark MFPs to enable healthcare organisations to maintain information access, and ensure continuity of care, when systems are down.
Lexmark Downtime Assistant stores the reports, forms, and checklists needed during downtime on a central file share. The app continually refreshes reports from the HER (electronic health record) system, and uploads and overwrites documents automatically throughout the day, meaning the most up-to-date information can be accessed anytime.
Ken Woodruff, the director of Lexmark Healthcare, said: “Continuity of care and patient safety are critical considerations in healthcare. Whether infrastructure is out of service for routine maintenance, or the downtime is unplanned, Lexmark Downtime Assistant for Healthcare keeps clinical staff from missing a beat when systems or networks are down.”
Downtime Assistant will leverage the existing Lexmark MFP platform, and will allow users to review the list of documents from the MFP’s touchscreen interface, printing only what they need. The solution requires no additional infrastructure or resources to operate, and information stored on it is automatically encrypted, ensuring only authorised users can access it.
The solution is customisable by Lexmark workflow experts, based on each customer’s unique needs. It is available from authorised Lexmark resellers, or from Lexmark directly.
