Mass production of commercial printing inkjet printheads to begin in April 2012.
Printer manufacturer Kyocera Mita has announced that it will begin mass production of the world’s fastest inkjet printheads for commercial printing as of April 2012: the KJ4B-Y for water-based ink and the KJ4A-B for UV-curable ink.
1,000 units will be produced monthly, with the OEM gradually increasing production volume.
The KJ4B-Y is capable of ejecting ink at up to 4,000 times per second from each ink nozzle, culminating in approximately 100 million drops per second from a printhead possessing 2,656 nozzles. The water-based ink is suitable for large volume print jobs of paper printing.
The KJ4A-B, ideal for printing on non-absorbent materials, is able to eject ink at up to 30,000 times per second, resulting in 80 million drops per second from a printhead with an equal 2,656 nozzles.
