Kodak has released its new Hero range of all-in-one inkjet printers for surprisingly low prices in the South African market, according to Gadget.co.za.
The Hero printers themselves will be priced starting at under R1000 ($134, €97), while cartridges will retail for less than R100 ($13, €9.7). The low supply costs mark a departure from the traditional “razor and blade” model followed by OEMs, with printers usually sold at a loss and ink and toner at a premium.
“This is an exciting milestone for Kodak’s growth in consumer inkjet printing,” said Bob Ohlweiler, Director and Vice President, Consumer Inkjet Systems, Europe.
“We are committed to saving people money on printing and believe our products will resonate strongly with South African families and home office professionals. We would also like to thank our retailer partners for the trust and confidence they have placed in the Kodak brand.”
Dave Miller, CEO of Incredible Connection, added: “We are really pleased to be partnering with Kodak and the launch of their new line up of Kodak consumer inkjet Printers. Kodak has been a trusted brand for many years and consumers respect their products for quality and affordability.
“The proposition offered by Kodak provides consumers with that bridge between high quality printing while offering real value. We wish Kodak great success with the launch of the Inkjet printers within the Incredible Connection.”
