The Imaging Supplies Coalition (ISC), a group of OEMs that “have joined together to protect their customers by combating illegal activities in the imaging supplies industry”, has announced that its latest anti-counterfeiting conference will take place from 14 to 16 September at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, and which will mark its 20th anniversary.
The non-profit coalition includes Brother International, Canon USA, Epson America, Lexmark International, Oki Data Corporation, Samsung America, Toshiba America and Xerox, with attendees visiting from Europe, Asia, the USA, Canada, Latin America and Australia. The ISC stated that “brand protection […] is undergoing a great deal of change”, and is “increasing” in importance for all stakeholders.
As a response to this, the conference will see “leaders in brand protection from the imaging supply industry” discuss the changes happening, and their effect on both OEMs and customers. Keynote speakers that will be taking part include Jorge A. Garcia, Deputy Assistant Director of US Customs and Border Proection’s Los Angeles Field Office, and Travis Johnson, Vice President of the IACC.
Additionally, conference topics are set to include case studies “involving the successful application of technology to combat counterfeiting” as well as the state of IP rights in China, Brazil and Africa. The ISC noted that a “feature presentation” will be a discussion of the “current patent issues facing the industry”, with registration open now to those interested.
