HP reveals new focus and products for Imaging and Printing

September 21, 2011

HP’s annual global Imaging and Printing Conference, held late last week in Shanghai in China, revealed a host of new devices and products for the OEM’s printing arm.

The HP TopShot LaserJet Pro M275

In recent weeks, much discussion has taken place on the fate of the company’s PC division, but the Imaging and Printing department has been one of its most successful, with HP revealing that more than 10 million of its cloud-enabled printers have been sold since the ePrint system was launched.

Among the most significant of the devices launched was the TopShot LaserJet Pro M275, a desktop MFP that can scan 3D objects by taking six separate images to create a 3D duplicate on the machine.

Other printers announced included the Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One series, the Officjet Pro 8100 Office ePrinter, the HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 M601, 602 and 603, and the LaserJet Enterprise 500 colour M551. The devices are based on offering lower cost per page, mobile printing compatibility, business efficiency and improved document workflow.

In other developments, HP announced an addition to its MPS following its acquisition of Printelligent, called HP Partner Managed Print Services, which will focus on channel-enabled MPS offerings. The Smart Marketing Suite meanwhile will allow companies to work together with HP to create marketing, whilst new elements of the ePrint mobile printing application include improved wireless connectivity, apps for a range of smartphones, and developed mobile driver compatibility.

Vyomesh Joshi, Executive Vice President for the Imaging and Printing Group, stated: “HP’s history of innovation runs deep, and we continue to leverage that legacy and build on it for future growth.

“While printing in the traditional sense will continue to be integral to what we bring to the world, we are disrupting the market with leading innovations beyond the page as well.”
