The OEM revealed that the store “streamlines deployment and management of security-certified print apps”, and presents a “one stop portal” designed for resellers and customers to “easily purchase, deploy and manage applications through the cloud”. It also claimed that the store “is the first portal in the industry to offer a marketplace” for first and third-party software as a service (SaaS) apps “with integrated services for managing apps, users and devices”.

This is said to enable a “procurement experience along with easy, consistent deployment and management that doesn’t require the expense of server infrastructure”, as well as being designed to “support customers with multi-vendor print environments”, as most of the apps will work with both HP Inc and competitor printers. HP Inc also pointed out that the store will “initially offer applications from HP [Inc] and Fenestrae that enable access control, fleet management and digital capture for workflow”.

Giving more detail on the security certification, HP Inc said that every app on sale is “HP Security-Certified”, offering customers “peace of mind that the apps they deploy have been developed to comply with data privacy best practices”, including “security threat analysis and mitigation”, “data privacy standards compliance”, “static code analysis” and “appropriate solution controls”. Sensitive data is also protected through “business-grade encryption”.

Apps available at launch include two existing JetAdvantage apps, the JetAdvantage Private Print and Insights applications, alongside HP Inc and Fenestrae apps including: HP JetAdvantage Secure Print, an SaaS-based pull printing app; and Udocx, a cloud-based storage application. Further apps will be added “over time”, with the app store available from November in the USA.

Edmund Wingate, HP Inc’s Head of JetAdvantage Solutions, commented: “With HP JetAdvantage On Demand, we bring together top apps from HP and ISVs and leverage the cloud for a simple purchase, deployment and management experience. As a result, we are able to enhance security, management and productivity of printing infrastructure and create a better experience for reseller partners and customers.”
