HP has announced a significant seizure effort of counterfeit printing supplies in coordination with Ghana law enforcement officials, GhanaWeb has reported.
Police action in May saw retail outlets in the city centre raided, seizing a total of 125 finished inkjet and 920 counterfeit laser printer cartridges intended for illegal use. Ghanaian officials also detained six people associated with the operation, and it is expected that intelligence gained through the raids will result in additional anti-counterfeit action.
Adnane Besri, Laser & Enterprise Manager, HP Africa, commented: “HP appreciates the strong cooperation of Ghanaian law enforcement to help protect our customers from the inferior standards and potential risks of counterfeits.
“People who buy counterfeit print cartridges and other fake merchandise believe mistakenly that they’re receiving the original products, and they deserve the high quality and performance for which they’re paying.”
