Toshiba announced that the British Standards Institution (BSI) verified its erasable toner MFPs met the ISO 14040 and ISO 14044.
The company’s e-STUDIO3508LP, e-STUDIO4508LP and e-STUDIO5008LP MFPs with the paper reusing device e-STUDIO RD301 met the standards of the Life Cycle Assessment required for the ISO certifications.
Toshiba stated that “the e-STUDIO3508LP, e-STUDIO4508LP, and e-STUDIO5008LP are Toshiba Tec’s unique and eco-conscious product which prints regular black prints as well as erasable blue prints within one device.” The printers are environmentally friendly and reduce CO2 emission from paper production using the erasable inks.
The process compared Toshiba Tec’s regular MFPs with the e-STUDIO ones and found that by using erasable toner they will reduce CO2 emission by 57 percent compared to that of five black prints.
Toshiba has a “three greens philosophy” which is Greening products, Greening of process and Green management and the company said that it strives to “be one of the world’s leading eco-conscious companies”.
The company stated that “by verifying its products to ISO 14040 and ISO 14044, Toshiba Tec is taking major steps towards addressing the environmental aspects and potential impacts throughout a product’s life.”
