Epson has announced compatibility with Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print, reports Pocket-lint. Compatibility is marked for all major inkjet models from Autumn 2011 onwards.
Epson have previously released the iPrint app for iOS devices, compatible with numerous Epson Stylus models, as have Ricoh for Google.
Ian Cameron, General Manager of Global Communications, Epson commented: “We’re delighted users of Epson’s AirPrint-enabled printers will not be able to print directly from their iOS devices.
“With AirPrint, no software or setup is required, so documents, photos and emails can be quickly and easily printed to any AirPrint-enabled Epson printer.
“Combining Epson’s state-of-the-art printers for enterprise and the home together with the options offered by Google Cloud Print liberates busy Epson customers by allowing them to print whenever and from wherever they want.”
Wireless printing remains an important direction for the industry, with numerous OEMs forming the Cloud Printing Alliance at CeBit 2011.
