Epson and Konica win Good Design award

Both OEMs announced printers that were honoured with Good Design awards.

Seiko Epson Corporation has won a 2019 Good Design Award for a total of ten products, including five printers, four projectors, and one watch.

Epson designs recognized with 2018 Good Design Awards, and products using the award-winning designs were Epson EW-M752T/ EP-M552T, Epson PX-S270T/ PX-M270T/ PX-M270FT, Epson SC-T5450M, Epson SC-F550 and Epson SC-P7550 / SC-P9550.

The judges’ commented: “Focusing on making everyday printing fun, this inkjet printer directly addresses users’ desire for reasonably priced and effortless printing. The printer opens people’s minds to the possibilities of home-use printing through a variety of innovations and solutions. For example, it has a novel structure with an integrated small tank and printhead, which answers users’ concerns about running costs.”

Konica Minolta
bizhub C360i/C300i/C250i,

Konica Minolta, Inc. announced that the company has been awarded the Good Design Award 2019 by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP) for four products. Award-winning products include Konica Minolta’s bizhub C360i/C300i/C250i, A3 color MFP series and Konica Minolta’s bizhub C4050i/C3350i/C3320i/C4000i/C3300i, A4 color MFP series.

The screening committee of JDP commented: “in renewing the entire range of its MFPs, Konica Minolta has adhered to its design identity of INFO-Palette and succeeded in further refining the concept. The operation panel with a minimum set of keys makes the series more compatible with mobile devices, while improving operability through the user experience, user interface and universal design. As a result, the company has made this series more efficient and easier to use, while reinforcing its design identity. In addition, the neat arrangement of the LED indicator lamp and authentication section, and the improvements made to every detail of the exterior appearance, also earned high scores from the jury.”

Good Design awards are presented annually for designs that benefit and enrich people’s lives and society.
