2009 Junior Eurovision winner and actor Ralf Mackenbach visits cartridge collection company to lend support to Eeko concept.
Van Klaveren ccc B.V. has celebrated a visit from 2009 Junior Eurovision and actor Ralf Mackenbach to the cartridge collection company’s centre and has taken up a position as Ambassador of collection concept Eeko.
Mackenbach and Eeko mascot Eeko de Squirrel, named from an amalgamation of the word ‘ecology’ and the Dutch word for squirrel ‘eekhoorn’, will teach primary school children about sustainability and the importance of collecting empty printer cartridges and used mobile phones.
The 16 year old commented: “Empty cartridges and used mobile phones are often thrown away or stay in a drawer at home gathering dust. Almost everyone at home has a used mobile phone and that’s a waste!”
Mackenbach offered his support to Eeko upon discovering that “the partner charities of Eeko can get a nice fee” for each collection, “but besides this I think it is very important that we all think of the environment, waste and sustainability.”
Van Klaveren recently celebrated its 15th anniversary with a celebration of the company’s achievements, and commemorated almost 25 million cartridges saved from landfill since the company’s inception.
