K-Zeitung (German) reported on the acquisition, which has seen Delacamp take over the business providing “high-performance plastics”, effective 1 October, with Convena Polymers formerly part of Convena GmbH, a “globally-operating trading and distribution company” that specialises in “fluorine and high-performance plastics”, as well as developing itself “as the largest independent fluoroplastics dealer”.
Jörg Ahrens, Managing Director of Convena GmbH, commented that “within the framework of the global growth strategy of Convena Polymers, we are strengthening our presence in the market and our worldwide ability to deliver”. In turn, Volker Kappius, CEO of Delacamp, added that “I am delighted that we are able to expand our activities to strengthen the principle of the circular economy by taking over one of the leading companies in the trade in high-performance recyclates”.
Kappius also told The Recycler: “The acquisition is for our business outside the laser imaging cartridge repair industry. There is some overlapping with laser imaging on parts and roller, mainly for fuser units, especially with the OEM. But this was not our main driver – to widen our product range to include high performance polymers. The main reason was that we are moving into the reprocessing of high performance polymers as part of our sustainability strategy.”
