DCi staff to ride 54 miles for charity

August 28, 2015

The Laura CentreFour members of staff from the UK remanufacturer will ride from London to Brighton in aid of the Laura Centre.

The cyclists have set a target donation of £1,500 (€1,332) for the Laura Centre, a bereavement counselling service for parents who have lost children or viceversa. It was chosen by one of the bike team, Donna Savidge, because it helped her when she lost her daughter, Elizabeth, in April 2013. The ride will take place on Sunday 6 September.

Savidge commented: “Their unique, complimentary service proved invaluable to me at a time when my world was turned completely upside down.

“Having benefitted from their services, I wanted to do something in return, something that would enable those who found themselves in a similar situation to receive the support that I did.”

DCi says the cyclists “have an understanding of the physical and mental challenges that lay ahead” as its staff have been taking part in the ride for a number of years. Two employees of the company undertook the ride in June 2012 to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
