May 10, 2017
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has given the approval for the HP Inc to acquire Samsung’s printer business.
As reported by The economic Times “In a tweet, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) said that it has approved the “acquisition of printer business of Samsung by HP Inc”.“
The deal was approved by the European Commission (EC) in April 2017 concluding it would “not have a significant impact on effective competition”. The Recycler reported on the announcement in April here.
HP Inc CEO Dion Weisler visited Seoul recently to “finalise talks” on the planned deal, which would see HP Inc acquire Samsung’s printer business. Weisler was said to have met Kim Ki-ho, CEO of S-Printing Solution, which was the “spun-off entity set up” last year after the deal had been announced, and HP Inc “plans to acquire the firm’s whole stake by July”.
