September 5, 2012 CayCompass reports that Kirk Office Equipment plans to expand its HP printer cartridge recycling business to include a wider range of office equipment, including used computers, printers and photocopiers, by joining with Grand Cayman-based scrap-metal and e-waste recycler JH Moore Recycling Services. JH Moore has been contracted to collect used office equipment from Kirk Office Equipment’s office, which is then compressed and shipped to Florida in 40-foot containers where it is sorted and recycled at various different locations in the US. Grand Cayman residents are encouraged to either drop off their used equipment “at containers in several locations”, or contact the company to arrange for “commercial quantities” of waste to be picked up. Tim Frey, Operation Manager at JH Moore commented: “We are really proud of the efforts the Island is making. We have shipped over a million pounds of recyclable waste off Island within a year. We try to pick up five to six thousand pounds per day. We love what we do.” Meanwhile, Rick Morris, Service Manager at Kirk Office Equipment said: “Kirk is all about going green and we are happy to work with JH Moore Recycling Services to continue and expand what we already started. It’s a growing operation and we hope to do more with them to keep Cayman clean and to reduce the number of items that end up in our landfill.” Categories :
