Canon launches “speedy” laser printers at CES 2013

January 8, 2013

The two imageCLASS devices are geared towards the SMB market.

The machines are said to be the fastest monochrome and colour printers in Canon’s imageCLASS line of laser printers, with the LBP6780dn the monochrome device and the LBP7780Cdn the colour machine.

Both machines use high-yield cartridges, and the LBP7780Cdn has a cycle of 75,000 pages per month, whilst the LBP6780dn has one of 100,000 pages per month. Both machines feature LCD screens and a direct print feature, allowing for documents to be printed directly from a USB drive. Canon’s Mobile Printing application is also compatible with the devices.

In detail, the LBP7780Cdn offers duplexing and a 10.5 second first print time, as well as a 500-sheet paper capacity and a 100-sheet multi-purpose tray, and is rated at 33 ppm in colour and monochrome. The LBP6780dn features a print speed of 42 ppm and a first time print time of nine seconds, but otherwise has the same features as the colour model.

In terms of price and availability, the imageCLASS LBP7780Cdn and LBP6780dnwill be available in late January from $899 (€687) and $699 (€534) respectively.
