The OEM has donated money to help recovery after earthquakes in Kyushu, Japan.

In a press release, Canon stated that “beginning on 14 April, a series of earthquakes have stuck Kumamoto and Oita prefectures on Japan’s southern island of Kyushu”, which caused “extensive destruction and loss of life”. The OEM added that it would “like to extend our heartfelt condolences to all those affected by this disaster, and our thoughts go out to those suffering in its aftermath”.

It also said that “while we realise that the road to recovery will be challenging and time-consuming, we hope that the region will soon be able to begin the rebuilding and healing process”, and in helping to aid the relief efforts, it will donate ¥?10 million ($91,449/€80,636) to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
