Industry Analysts reported on the launch, with the OEM continuing to “deliver innovation to businesses of all sizes”, and the devices offering “enterprise-level security along with workgroup productivity solutions and low total cost of ownership”. The “expanded line” has been “specifically designed to address critical business challenges faced by organisations”, specifically “improving business workflow efficiency and enhancing document security”.
The machines feature “best-in-class” scanning speeds of up to 52ipm simplex and 104ipm duplex, near-field communication (NFC) connectivity, and print speeds of up to 33ppm in colour and monochrome. The new devices include the HL-L8260CDW printer and MFC-L8610CDW MFP, and the HL-L8360CDW printer and MFC-L8900CDW MFP, with the first two offering “excellent cost efficiency with a wide range of features such as wireless connectivity and duplex printing”.
The latter two meanwhile “deliver all the features of the base models along with a number of key enhancements”, including NFC connectivity and “compatibility with super high-yield cartridges”. The last two devices launched include two new Brother Workhorse models, the HL-L9310CDW and MFC-L9570CDW, with “scalable paper handling and a low TCO” alongside “super high-yield cartridges and Brother Genuine Ultra high-yield replacement cartridges” respectively.
The Workhorses, Brother stated, “were developed to meet the needs of even the most demanding document imaging environments”, while all the new printers include the Secure Function Lock feature, which gives “administrators the ability to restrict usage and limit machine functions”. A new seven-inch tablet touchscreen on the MFC-L9570CDW, and in smaller sizes on other models, features “64 customisable shortcuts to simplify complex and frequently used tasks”.
Each device can add up to three 250-sheet optional trays for the HL models and two for the MFC models, while two 500-sheet trays can be added to the HL-L8360CDW, HL-L9310CDW, MFC-L8900CDW and MFC-L9570CDW, and “for additional paper capacity Brother offers a full floor-standing complement” to the HL-L9310CDW and MFC-L9570CDW, for 2,380 extra sheets.
Randy Dazo, Brother’s Group Director for Office Document Technology, commented: “This new colour series offers the capabilities that any sized organisation needs, including security features, robust paper handling, superior image quality and workflow solutions typically seen in larger more expensive devices.
“Brother is effectively positioned to not only address the needs of larger organisations, but also provide a higher level of workflow capabilities in a small footprint while affordably bringing colour printing to higher print volume environments.”
Steve Feldstein, Brother’s Director of Marketing for Business Laser and Scanner Products, added: “This next generation of products further underscores Brother’s commitment and leadership position in providing business-class document technology in a small footprint typically associated with larger, more expensive and service-prone devices.
“From the business standpoint these printers and MFPs deliver durability, scalability, security and high-impact colour laser printing at an extremely low total cost of ownership. For IT professionals, the devices can integrate into an organisation’s existing infrastructure, enhancing network document security.”
The HL-L8260CDW, HL-L8360CDW, HL-L8360CDWT, MFC-L8610CDW and MFC-L8900CDW will be “offered by online retailers, office superstores and Brother-authorised resellers”, while the Workhorses will be “offered exclusively” through the Authorised Partner Programme. The HL machines will be available at the end of March, while the AIOs will be available in April.
Prices include: $529.99 (€490.61) for the HL-L8260CDW; $649.99 (€601.69) for the HL-L8360CDW; $799.99 (€740.55) for the HL-L83600CDWT; $849.99 (€786.83) for the MFC-L8610CDW; $949.99 (€879.40) for the MFC-L8900CDW and HL-L9310CDW; and $1,249.99 (€1,157.11) for the MFC-L9570CDW.
