The partnership between the two OEMs is for a range of MFPs, which will be available globally and released in early April in Europe and the Americas.
The two OEMs, which OKI stated have a “total global sales target of 30,000 units over the next year” for the devices, added that in recent times “there has been a growing need for cost reduction and improvements in business productivity” that can be achieved through using MFPs, and that in turn demand for A4 colour MFPs will expand by 10 percent year-on-year.
Adding the customers are “demanding improved support for solutions that enable print control, document management and integration into their operational workflow”, the OEMs stated that they have “combined their technological strengths and developed new high performance” colour MFPs for the “mid to large workgroup segment”.
On a technical basis, the new machines are equipped with Toshiba’s controller and OKI’s LED print engine, with the controller’s Open Platform technology “enabl[ing] system integrators to develop and provide diverse solutions to enhance workflow integration”. The MFP will also come complete with a nine inch colour touchscreen panel.
Takashi Inoue, General Manager of OKI’s Products Business Division, stated: “OKI Data’s alliance with Toshiba Tec strengthens our ability to deliver comprehensive printing solutions to our enterprise clients. Against the backdrop of an increasing number of smart devices and cloud based solutions, we plan to deliver business efficiency, responding to the changing office printing market needs, through an enhanced product line-up.”
Hidetaka Nonami, General Manager of Toshiba’s Products and Marketing Division of Global Solutions Business Group, added: “We are pleased to add the new A4 color MFP to our A3 color MFP portfolio, which ranges from low to mid speed as well as flagship products.
“Toshiba Tec will further expand areas in which customers can use color MFPs and we will also propose further usage of MFPs, not only for offices but also for stores and establishments such as retail and service related areas.”
