Brother joins Thai flood relief

The OEM will donate to help the company deal with the worst floods in decades.

Japanese OEM Brother has announced that it will donate 1 million baht (approx. ¥2.5 million, $32,570) to help with to help with flood relief in Thailand, the company announced this week.

The money will go towards the Red Cross’ aid efforts. Canon likewise donated to the charity earlier this week.

Thailand has been hit by the worst flooding in the country for decades, taking more than 300 lives and severely affecting the economy and infrastructure.

Several OEMs with manufacturing plants in the country are among those affected. As previously reported, Canon currently closed two inkjet printer factories due to flood waters, and OKI has likewise closed a facility. Ricoh has also had to halt production due to supply issues.

Brother has not confirmed whether any of its own Brother Thailand facilities have been closed or affected by the disaster.

Supply problems in the Asian market are becoming increasingly more likely as the floods and closures continue.
