WES visitors get exclusive trial of HP's new ePrint application

28 April 2010
HP is giving an exclusive chance to trial a demo of its new ePrint application to attendees at the Wireless Enterprise Symposium (WES).

The system is based on HP CloudPrint technology lets BlackBerry smartphone users print almost any document from connected hotspot locations. Visitors can download the application here and make use of hotspots at the event.

“WES attendees have the first opportunity to take advantage of HP ePrint to stay productive by printing to Printspot printer locations,” said Victor Garcia, chief technology officer, Hewlett-Packard (Canada) Co.

“HP is committed to empowering users to capitalize on business opportunities wherever they may occur, and this joint effort with RIM will help companies boost employee productivity, which in turn can reduce costs and enhance customer service.”

The ePrint on the go system uses the cloud to send print data from a mobile device to a compatible printer in a designated“PrintSpot”, which will include locations such as print and copy stores, hotels and airport lounges.

A related feature is the ePrint Enterprise solution, which will allow users to print from their BlackBerries directly to a networked printer at their office.

Jeff McDowell,Senior Vice President of Business Marketing and Alliances, Research In Motion, said: “HP ePrint for BlackBerry smartphones provides an incredibly valuable capability for mobile workers, allowing them to print documents such as contracts, invoices, presentations and spreadsheets on the spot.

“It allows them to be more responsive totheir business partners and customers, and be more productive while away from their desks or outside the office.”

The Wireless Enterprise Symposium, which began on 25 April and will be closing tomorrow, is being held at the Orland World Center Marriott in Florida, US. HP will be giving a demonstration with more details of ePrint later today.
